Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation Review

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation Review

Hello Everyone!

There has been a lot of love in the blogosphere for Rimmel's Wake Me Up Foundation and I was one of the people who loved it when I first used it but since, I have discovered another foundation by Rimmel - Match Perfection, which I actually prefer.

The Match Perfection foundation uses smart-tone technology so the formulation adapts to your skin tone to help you get a flawless finish. I find it is light - medium coverage and is buildable but may not suitable for anyone who is looking for a full coverage foundation. It covers small blemishes and redness well but you will need to use a concealer with it.

The finish of this foundation is lovely. It is neither matte or 'glowly' but is something in between which gives you a natural, slightly dewy look most probably due to the 'Sapphire Radiance' in this product - how nice does that sound?! This foundation is lovely to work with as it doesn't dry to quickly and is easy to blend into your skin whether it be using your finger tips or a brush. I would describe the formulation as having a medium consistency and it also contains SPF 18. I find this product gives you good coverage but at the same time looks natural instead of cakey which is exactly what I look for in a foundation - I don't like to look like I've got lots of makeup on.

Despite this, I would maybe avoid this product if you have oily skin as my more oily areas (such as my nose) do get quite shiny throughout the day when using this foundation. I combat this by using shine control papers and/or powder which works fine but this product is probably best for people who have dry or combination skin (I am the latter).

This product boasts quite some claim - that is lasts all day and unfortunately I would disagree. Without primer or setting spray it doesn't last long at all but when teamed with a good primer and setting spray it makes all the difference.

I really like the packaging of this foundation as the glass bottle and sapphire blue lid make it feel and look much more expensive than it is. The pump also works perfectly for you to control how much product you want to dispense so you get minimal wastage.

The downside of this product is the colour range as it is very small and doesn't cater for people which darker skin tones. The only shades available are (in light to dark order):

010 Light Porcelain
100 Ivory
101 Classic Ivory
103 True Ivory
200 Soft Beige
201 Classic Beige
303 True Nude
350 Warm Honey
402 Bronze

I have colour 100 ivory and it works very well for my skin tone. This shade definitely gives me a more natural finish and when compared to the Wake Me Up Foundation as it isn't as orange toned.

This has been my go to foundation for the last month or so and despite the downsides I mentioned above I do think it is a good quality drugstore product. I would definitely repurchased this and have even bought it for my mum to try!

This foundation is available at Superdrug for £6.99.

Have you tried this foundation? What is your favourite drugstore foundation?
